  The Department of Microbiology has started functioning in 1993 with the following sections:

  3. SEROLOGY & IMMUNOLOGY

  4. MYCOLOGY

  5. PARASITOLOGY

  6. VIROLOGY

BACTERIOLOGY:

Culture & Sensitivity test of

  • Blood

  • Urine

  • Pus & Other Body Fluids

  • Sputum,Throat

  • Other Body Sites
    Hospital Survilence for nosocomial infections for SVIMS,BIRRD,SVRR Hospital.
    Leptospira detection by Dark ground microscopy.


MYCOBACTERIOLOGY:  

  • Smear Examination.

  • Conventional culture by LJ medium.

  • Rapid culture by Mycobacterium growth indicator tubes(Becton Dickinson,USA) and rapid culture using automated equipment (BacT Alert 3D system)

  • IgM detection by ELISA.

  • Mantoux test.

  • Quantiferon Feron-TB (QFT)

SEROLOGY & IMMUNOLOGY:

  • ASO, RA Factor, CRP

  • Widal, VDRL

  • HbsAg by ELISA

  • Nti HIV by ELISA and HIV antigen detection

  • Anti HCV by ELISA

  • H.Pylori

  • C.Pneumonae

  • ANA

  • ds DNA

  • Anti Cardiolipin

  • Leptospira

  • Qunatitative Estimation of HSCRP

  • C3 &C4

  • Dengue IgM & IgG.

  • Chikungunya IgMDengue IgM

  • Anti CCP antibodies

  • Western Blot test for HIV

MYCOLOGY & PARASITOLOGY:

Modest work is being done in these two sections with fungal culture and identification of fungi and routine stool examination, Special testing for crypto sporidiosis and Giardia antigen detection.
