College of Nursing started functioning at SVIMS in the september,1996 with a 4 year B.Sc., Nursing Degree Programme. The annual intake of students is 100 per year. The academic sector comprising of curricular, co-curricular, extra curricular activities are managed by the teaching faculty. The faculty members are responsible for providing for direct teaching, learning experiences not only in the class rooms, but also in the clinical and community health settings. College of Nursing is making use of the following hospitals and health centres for providing clinical learning experience to there students apart from SVIMS.

Objectives

  • To create a centre of excellence for providing medical care, educational and research facilities of a higher order in the field of medical sciences in the existing super specialties and such other super specialties as may develop in future, including Continuing Medial Education and Hospital Administration.

  • To develop patterns of teaching in post-graduate level and in super specialties so as to set a high standard of medical education.

  • To provide for training in para-medical and allied fields, particularly in relating to super specialties.

  • To function as a referral hospital.

  • To provide post-graduate teaching and conduct research in the relevant disciplines of modern medicine and other allied sciences, including inter-disciplinary fields of physical and biological sciences.

Achievements:

1.   On occasion of International Organ Donation Day on 28th November 2014. The following students secure prizes on “Importance of organ donations”.

2. Painting Competetion: K.S. Lavanya, II M.Sc (N) got 1st prize and G. Rachana, II   B.Sc (N) got 3rd prize. P.Haritha, 1st M.Sc (N) and N. Prathusha, II B.Sc (N) got consolation prizes.

Sudha Rani, Principal attended National Conference “Nurse as a change agent advancing towards global health” and delivered guest lecture on  “ changing role of nurse in advancing health for all health system stewardship”  in Manisha College of Nursing, Visakhapatnam during 5-6 September 2014 and also chaired a Symposium on Strategies for global health nursing perspectives
