Introduction
The Department of Forensic Medicine at Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women (SPMCW),
SVIMS, has been functioning since its inception in the year 2014. The department is well
established with dedicated infrastructure including faculty office chambers, demonstration rooms,
museum, research laboratory, library, and practical laboratory facilities.
The department conducts academic teaching programmes for II MBBS and III MBBS students,
as well as MBBS interns, in accordance with the Revised NMC Curriculum 2020.
The department is actively involved in various academic activities related to teaching, training,
and research.
The department has a future vision of expanding into medico-legal post-mortem services, clinical
forensic medicine services including Toxicology Laboratory services, and court-related medico-legal
works. The department aims to provide expert medico-legal opinions in referred cases from courts
and police investigation agencies.

The Department of Forensic Medicine provides academic training for the following programmes:

The department undertakes training of MBBS students in the areas of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology,
Medical Jurisprudence, Medical Ethics, Medical Negligence, and Forensic Pathology through:

- Tutorials
- Small Group Practical Classes
This comprehensive training ensures that students gain strong theoretical knowledge and practical
exposure in medico-legal aspects of medical practice.
