Awards and Fellowships:

 

In Professional Career as Cardiac Surgeon:

1.     SS Anand  Travelling Fellowship by the Indian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery for the year 1998 – 1999, at Shree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. Duration of the Fellowship : 6 weeks from September 07,1999 till October 18,1999.

2.     Common Wealth Fellowship nominated by the University Grant Commission for the year 1999 – 2000.

3.     Reeve H. Betts Fellowship by the Indian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery for the year 2001 – 2002, at Bombay Hospital and Medical Research Center, Marine Lines and Leelavati Hospital and Research center, Bandra Reclamation, Mumbai, Maharastra, India. Duration of the Fellowship : 6 weeks from July 06,2001 till August 14,2001.

4.     Recipient  “A.P.State Govt. Appreciation Award” in the year 2001.

5.     Fellow of the Association of Indian Surgeons (FAIS), conferred by the Association of Surgeons of India at the convocation held on 28th December 2001 at the 61st  Annual Conference of the Association of Surgeons on India, December 25 – 30, 2001 at Patna, Bihar.

6.     Awarded the “Rastriya Ratan Award” for Medicine –2003 at Delhi.

7.     Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS) in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, conferred on June 30,2003, by the College International De Chirurgiens founded in Geneva 1935, Incorporated in Washington D.C.,1940. Presented at the Convocation held on September 6, 2003, held during the 49th Annual Conference of International  College of Surgeons (Indian Section), September 4-7,2003 at Chennai, India.

8.     Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), conferred on 19th of October at the convocation held at Chicago, Illinois during the 89th Annual Clinical Congress of the American College of Surgeons, Chicago, Illinois from October 19-23,2003.

9.     Fellow of the Indian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons (FIACS) conferred on her in 2004

10.  Rotary Club of Tirupati Felicitated on 09.09.2010 for her contribution in the field of Cardiac surgery.

11.  Fellow of  Vascular Society of India (FVSI) was conferred at the annual Conference of the Vascular Society of India on 16 October 2014

12.  A.K.Basu Visiting Professorship awarded by the Indian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgeons, at the Annual Meeting of the Indian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery held at Lucknow in Feb. 2017.

13.  Best performing Department Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgery in the state of Andhra Pradesh (2nd Place) 2018 Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati awarded by the Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Trust , Govt. of ANDHRA PRADESH. Received by Dr, Abha Chandra for performing highest number of surgeries under the Government scheme.

                                            

Awards in 2020

14.   Prof. ABHA CHANDRA has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Reviewing in recognition of an outstanding contribution to quality of the Journal (Asian Journal of Case reports in Medicine and Health).

15.   Prof. ABHA CHANDRA has been bestowed with the “Best Reviewer” award for the Indian Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery for the year 2020.

16.   Prof. ABHA CHANDRA has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Reviewing  of  Asian Journal of Case Reports in Medicine and Health 2021 has been recognition of an outstanding contribution to the quality of the Journal .

17.   Prof. ABHA CHANDRA has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Reviewing of Journal of Advances in Medicine and Medical Research 2021 in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the quality of the Journal.

 

18.   Prof. ABHA CHANDRA has been awarded the GOAL AWARDs for the outstanding contribution in the field of Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgery on Sept. 8, 2021 at the International Summit on “Economic growth and Social Development”  at Delhi.

 

19.  Prof. ABHA CHANDRA has been nominated for the Award of Excellence in the field of Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgery 2021 by the Venus International Health Awards (VIHA), Venus International  Foundation at Chennai.

Achievements and commitments through 2019 and 2020:

1.     Dr. ABHA CHANDRA has been given the Recognition for her peer reviews – past and present by the PUBLONS,  Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals has given official recognition for the peer reviews she has performed in Publon journals in the past. They have found it to be of valuable contribution to research.

2.     Dr. ABHA CHANDRA, Department of Cardiovasular and Thoracic surgery SVIMS and Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied sciences, Ministery of Defence, New Delhi are in collaboration for a Research Project titled “Epidemiology and Patholphysiology  of various high altitude induced Cardiopulmonary Diseases”  Ref: letter No. Do/101/DIPAS/2019, dated 13th August, 2019

3.     Prof. ABHA CHANDRA has been given the Recognition for her peer reviews – past and present by the PUBLONS, for  Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals has given official recognition for the peer reviews she has performed in Publon journals in the past year. They have found it to be of valuable contribution to research.

4.     Prof.. ABHA CHANDRA has been added to the web of science by the Publon with an ID: new Web of Science Researcher ID is AAE-3959-2020.

 

Awards in 2021

       1.     Prof. ABHA CHANDRA has been nominated for the Award of Excellence for the Best Medical Educational Development & Research Services on the occasion of National Conference on Wednesday 8th September, 2021, New Delhi 

 

Awards for the Department:

 Awards (M.Ch CVTS)

 

a)    Dr. Ravi Kiran Reg. No 9720011was awarded the “Dr. G subramanyam     and       Dr. G Sunitha Subramanyam Gold medal  for the year 2012 in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. (Surgical section). for scoring highest mark in M.Ch (CVTS).

 

b)    Dr.Hari Krishna Murthy, Senior Resident was awarded the Professor G. Subramanyam  & Sunitha Subramanyam Gold Medal for super speciality surgical section for scoring highest mark in M.Ch (CVTS).

 

c)    Dr. D Kalyanirama, Senior Resident had oral presentation titled: “Management of Paediatric Empyema Thoracis: Experience at a Tertiary Care Centre  in South India” in the award session of the NAPCON 2016, National Conference of Pulmonary diseases and 18th Joint Annual Conference of National College of Chest Physicians India and Indian Chest Society held between 24th to 27th November 2016 at Mumbai and was awarded the National Pulmonary Award- 2016 in the second position.

 

 Allied Health Sciences:

 

1.    Ms. Shahida, B.SC CPPT student: was awarded the Best out going student.
