Introduction

To improve patient care services Department of Psychiatry was started in the month of November 2013. This Department provides out-patient services and inpatient services on all working days of the hospital. Our new inpatient ward have 25 beds with dedicated nursing care. We recently started intermediate care services with multipara monitoring, central oxygen supply, dedicated nursing staff and ICU beds for sick and emergency psychiatry patients. For the entertainment of  patients television with all entertainment channels is recently commissioned.

The department actively participates in various patient and academic related activities. We provide referral services to all broad and super-speciality wards in the hospital. Screening of students across all courses for mental health issues and conducting wellness clinic in the medical college is one of our contribution to the wellness of students community in the university. We are actively involved in undergraduate medical teaching, Msc.Psychiatry nursing, Bachelors in physiotherapy and Pharm-D courses.

Courses and Training: MBBS, Pharm-D

  • A total duration of 6 weeks postings in 3 sessions, each session of two weeks for undergraduate medical students.

  • 2 week duration of postings for intern students.

  • Training of 2 months period for Pharm-D students research projects for Pharm-D student.

  • Didactic theory lectures and small group discussions for under graduate students and vertical integrated teaching is also provided in collaboration with other department.

  1. The Psychiatry OP clinic is located in Room no 21, 2nd floor, Sri Padmavathi Hospital, Tirupati. A spacious Psychiatry ward is available at 4th floor, Sri Padmavathi Hospital with AC facility and special rooms are also available.

1.      Academic Programs: Regular case presentations, spotters and research programmes are conducted.
