Dr. Anju D Ade,
Professor and Incharge HOD attended and presented a Scientific Oral paper
titled ‘A Retrospective study of birth weight and their risk factors among
rural women in Andhra Pradesh IPHA & IAPSM joint conference 2016,
organized by the Dept of Community Medicine, Narayana Medical College,
Nellore , 19-21st Dec.2015.
2.
Dr. D. Ravi Sankar,
Asst. Professor presented Medico Social case of Leprosy in the Inter
Departmental Academic Programme on 1st Sep 2016.
3. The
department of Community Medicine has Organized & successfully celebrated
World Health Day, 7th April 2016 at Rural Health Centre,
Mangalam, and at Lecture Gallery-I, SPMC(W). We conducted diabetes
screening in the morning at RHTC Mangalam. Students of 4th
semester addressed people in local language who gathered at RHC Mangalam.
Principal - Dr. Hanumanth Rao, Vice-principals- Dr. Uma Maheshwar Rao &
Dr. Sharan B. Singh, M.O. of RHC addressed the gathering.
In the Afternoon at 3.00 p.m, Dr. Anju welcomed the guests, 03
students of 4th semester gave talk, based on theme. The
Director – Dr. Shiva kumar, Principal - Dr. Hanumanth Rao,
Vice-principals- Dr. Uma Maheshwar Rao & Dr. Sharan B. Singh gave speech
on Diabetes. Prizes were distributed by the Director to all the students’
speakers. Students of 4th semester actively participated in the
programme. Vote of thanks was given by Dr. Anju.

Dr. Y. Bhavani,
Asst. Professor presented Spotter on Rota Virus Vaccine in the Inter
Departmental Academic Programme on 2nd July 2016.

Dr. Y. Bhavani,
attended and presented a scientific oral paper titles ‘Study on prevalence
of water borne diseases and WASH practices in urban and rural areas of
Chennai district’ in Andhra Pradesh IPHA & IAPSM joint conference 2016,
organized by the Dept of Community Medicine, Narayana Medical college,
Nellore, 19-21st Dec.2015.

The Department of Community Medicine has organized & celebrated World
breast feeding week (1-7 August). Theme this year was “Breat Feeding:
A key to sustainable development.”
On 1st Aug, 2016 :
We assessed the knowledge of 150 MBBS student (4th semester)
regarding Breast feeding. For this IYCN questionnaire was used.
On 2nd Aug, 2016 :
Seminar was presented by 4the semester students on following topics.

Introduction & Advantages of breast feeding - G. Gaytri Bhat
·
Myths about Breast feeding & Complimentary feeding – R. Aswini.
·
Breast Feeding Hospital Initiative - B. Ashalata.
·
National Guidelines for Infant Feeding - Y. Chandini.
·
Methods to hold a baby while Breast Feeding - K. Eshwari.
·
Complimentary feeding - Geetha Sushma.
On 3rd Aug, 2016 :
Programme at Rural Health Training Centre, Mangalam was conducted.
·
Awareness and theme based talk by faculties, Medical officer of PHC and
student at RHTC.
·
Role play based on theme was performed by the students of 4th
semester.
·
Faculties, Dr Anju & Dr. Ravishankar, Medical Officer, Dr Leela interacted
with mothers and answered their queries.
·
Pamphlet distribution was done by PHN, Health workers.
On 5th Aug, 2016 :
Awareness programme at Anganwadi Centre (ICDS), Mangalam was conducted by
PHN, Mr. Shareef, Anganwadi worker, ASHA workers and students participated
in awareness about programme. They addressed the gathering in local
language, distributed pamphlets.
