Introduction
The department of Anatomy is
located at Sri Padmavathi Medical College for women SVIMS ever
since its inception in the year 2014. The department is existing
in 1117 sqmt consisting of chambers for Faculty, Demo Rooms,
Histology Lab, Museum, Research Lab, Library and Dissection Hall,
Cadaver storage room including the freezers.
The department of Anatomy is
carrying out academic teaching programme for MBBS Students as per
revised MCI Curriculum 2019. The department also deals with M.Sc
Medical Anatomy, Physiotherapy, Nursing and Paramedical Courses.
The department also is carrying out the work of body donation
programme and Embalming of VIP bodies. The department is assisted
by Personal Assistant, Technicians and contingency workers.

Close relative of deceased or donors approach the authorities of
Department of Anatomy SVIMS-SPMCW for Procedure
Ø
Department of Anatomy Embalms only Non MLC bodies with death
certificate
Ø
Dept. of Anatomy explains the procedure and formalities to
deceased relatives and handovers request form heading to director
Ø
A Letter of request by relatives for embalming deceased body is
addressed to director
Ø
Approval by director /countersigned by Medical Superintendent.
Ø
Relatives of deceased return the signed copies to Department of
Anatomy
Ø
Verification of documents & explains risks. list of certificates
needed for embalming like No objection certificate from police
department , Hospital death commentary is clarified.
Ø
After receiving certificate from police department, Hospital death
commentary, Embalming case record is filled by deceased relatives
& challan of Rs.5000/- is paid towards embalming charges in OP
billing section.
Ø
After receiving challan copy embalming is done in Dept. of Anatomy
and body is handed over to deceased relatives for transport
through air (by explaining the items required for transport i.e,
coffin box ,threads, cosmetics costs around Rs.5000/-)
Ø
Certificate of embalming is issued by professor & Head Department
of Anatomy also signed by assigned faculty(3/4 copies issued to
deceased relative & one copy is retained with Department
Ø
Photocopies of all the forms pertaining the deceased body
embalming procedure along with certificate of Embalming is sent to
Director cum Vice chancellor for kind information
