4. Department
of Community Medicine and Department of Nursing together have
organized a programme on the occasion of World Health Day on 7th
April 2018 at Sri Padmavathi Auditorium, SVIMS. The activities of
the programme were as follows.

On
the occasion of World Health Day 2018 UG quiz programme was
conducted under the aegis of Indian Association of Preventive and
social Medicine (IAPSM).The nodal officer of the programme was Dr.G.VisweswaraRao, Asst.Professor of Community Medicine. The
activities carried out included.
a. The
elimination round of Quiz Programme was conducted for MBBS
students at 2.00 PM on 3rd April, 2018 in the
Department of Community Medicine. Twelve teams (36 members)
participated from various semesters and four teams were selected
for final round.
b.
Final round quiz was conducted on 07/04/2018 in which four teams
participated, 3 in each group in the final round quiz. Total 60
to 70 students and 10 faculties attended the quiz programme. The
winners of the final quiz were P.Prasanna, Ch.Krishnavalli and
M.SaiKeerthi who are 8thsem MBBS students.
5. The
following field activities were conducted under the aegis of
Indian Public Health Association on the occasion of World Health
Day 2018 in which Dr.V.Chandrasekhar was the nodal officer.

A students
rally was organised on occasion of World Health day celebration
the department of Community Medicine, along with Primary Health
Centre, Mangalam. During the rally the people are created
awareness about the theme proposed by World Health Organisation.

The rally is
commenced by Dr.R.Altaf Hussain, Associate Professor,
Dr.V.Chandrasekhar- Asst.Professor and the nodal officer of Indian
Public Health Association, Dr.Sulochana-Tutor, Mr.SulemanShareef,
PHN, Community Medicine and Mr.Sivaramakrishna, MSW participated
in the rally.

A
meeting is convened in PHC, Mangalam by Dept of Community Medicine
along with Medical Officer, Mangalam to create awareness
regarding “Health for everyone and everywhere” among
antenatal women and the patients.
6. On
the occasion of “WORLD TB DAY” on 24th March,
2018 awareness Programme was conducted in Sri Padmavathi
Auditorium at 10.30AM. Dr.K.Nagaraj, Professor & HOD, Community
Medicine gave a short lecture on current TB situation in India.
Dr.Alladi Mohan, Professor & HOD, General Medicine gave a talk on
Management of Tuberculosis according to new RNTCP guidelines.
Dr.Y.Bhavani,
Asst.Professor was the Nodal officer for conducting World TB day
in the Department of Community Medicine under the aegis of Indian
Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM). The
following activities were carried out by the Department.
Students were
motivated for competitions “All India short Educational Video
Contest” and field based activities. Out of 4 short educational
videos, 3 were selected after screening and videos were uploaded
in the you tube.
As a part of
field based activities total five teams participated (8 students
in each team). Activities carried out were: a) Awareness
campaigns and case finding for TB in Urban slums and villages (Indiranagar,
Nehru Nagar, Bommagunta, Mangalam and settipalli). b)
Sensitization on TB case notification to local practitioners,
pharmacists. C) Educating the TB patients and their family
regarding the importance of drug adherence, cough etiquettes and
dealing with adverse effects more than 200 beneficiaries at
college level were sensitized.
One group was
selected for best field based activity and mementos were
distributed on World Health Day. The narrative report and
activity summary was sent to IAPSM for all India level and state
competitions.
